Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information NSG (Nursing Study Group) at https://nsg.selbrink.com collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. NSG is operated by Enigma LLC ("we", "us"). We keep it simple: we collect what the site needs to work, we don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.

Information we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash; we can't see them. If you use Continue with Google, we receive your name, email address and a Google account ID from Google; we never see your Google password.
• Notes you upload: the text extracted from your Word, PDF, PowerPoint or text files. The uploaded file itself is deleted as soon as its text has been read. Before your notes are stored or processed, we automatically remove obvious patient identifiers such as record numbers, dates of birth and phone numbers.
• Study activity: the quizzes you take, your answers, scores, review schedule, questions you flag, and questions you ask the AI tutor.
• Forum posts: topics, replies and reports you submit.
• Technical information: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, your IP address when you request a password reset (to prevent abuse), and standard web server logs kept by our hosting provider.

How we use it

• To run the site: create practice questions from your notes, grade quizzes, schedule reviews, show your progress, and answer tutor questions.
• To keep the site safe: prevent spam and abuse, review flagged questions and reported posts, and fix problems.
• To contact you about your account, such as password reset emails. We don't send marketing email.

What other students can see

• Your notes are private. Only you can see the text of the notes you upload. The site gives admins no screen for reading students' notes.
• Questions made from your notes are shared. Practice questions generated from your notes join the question bank all members can use. They are not labeled with your name.
• Forum posts are visible to all members, along with the name on your account.
• Admins can see your name, email address, number of uploads and quiz activity in order to manage the site.

Services we use

• Anthropic (Claude AI): the text of your notes, sections of reference textbooks, and your tutor questions are sent to Anthropic's API to write practice questions and tutor answers. Anthropic processes this data to provide the service under its commercial terms. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Google sign-in (optional): if you choose Continue with Google, Google confirms your identity under Google's privacy policy. We only request your basic profile (name and email).
• Hosting and email: the site, its database and its email are hosted by A2 Hosting in the United States.
• YouTube: the video row on the home page shows thumbnails from YouTube. Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com); once you press play, YouTube may set cookies and collect information under Google's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts: our typefaces load from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when pages load.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone else except where required by law or to protect the safety of users.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. You are signed out automatically after 15 minutes with no NSG tab open. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.

Patient privacy

NSG is not a place for real patient information. Don't upload or post anything that could identify a patient (names, dates of birth, record numbers, photos). Our automatic filter catches common identifiers but cannot catch everything, so please check your notes before uploading.

How long we keep information

• Account, study and forum information is kept while your account is active.
• You can delete any note at any time from My notes; its text is removed. Questions already made from it stay in the shared bank, without your name.
• When an account is deleted, its notes, quiz history, flags and reports are deleted. Forum posts and shared questions remain but are no longer linked to your name.
• Saved AI tutor answers are kept to answer repeat questions and are not linked to any account. Counts of AI usage (for cost tracking) are kept without the content.

Your choices and rights

You can update or delete your notes and forum posts yourself. To get a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account, contact support@selbrink.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws; contact us to use them.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls for admins. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use on other sites.

Age

NSG is meant for nursing students and is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 18, use the site only with permission from a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, including if we introduce paid plans, we'll update this page and its effective date, and we'll post a notice on the site for significant changes.
